The poster design for Renegade Theater Company's 2012 production of "Summer and Smoke / The Eccentricities of a Nightingale" reflects the two plays’ exploration of love, desire, and societal expectations through Alma Winemiller's emotional struggle and complicated relationship with the wild doctor, John Buchanan Jr., in a small Southern town during the early 20th century, while symbolizing the characters' ethereal emotional and spiritual struggles and their quest for connection and individuality amidst societal norms.

The poster needed to showcase the two individual showtimes, as well as the single night containing both performances.
